Surety

What Is Lien Bond?

A lien bond is a surety bond posted as security with the court so that a registered construction lien can be removed (vacated) from a property's title. The lien claim then attaches to the bond instead of the land, so the owner or contractor can keep the project and its financing moving while the claim is resolved. In Ontario this is done under the Construction Act.
