Coverage

What Is Overland Water?

Overland water coverage protects your home when water enters from the surface — heavy rain, spring melt, or an overflowing lake or river. It is an optional add-on in Ontario; standard home policies generally exclude this kind of flooding.

Overland water is usually offered alongside sewer backup coverage and priced by your property’s flood risk. With more frequent severe weather in Ontario, it is worth asking your broker whether your home qualifies. See IBC’s water-damage guidance.
