What Is Direct Compensation – Property Damage (DCPD)?
Direct Compensation – Property Damage (DCPD) is the Ontario auto coverage that pays for damage to your vehicle and its contents when another driver is at fault. It is called “direct” because you deal with your own insurer, who pays you directly.
DCPD applies when the accident happens in Ontario, both vehicles are insured, and another party is at least partly at fault. It is a standard part of Ontario auto policies and works alongside your collision coverage — your broker can explain how the two fit together.
